Thanks to all the volunteers for making all this happen. The booths were set up and manned as planned. Public participation could have been better, but we will deal with that for next year. As far as the planning, timing of classes, speakers, demonstrations, etc. we were right on target most of the day.
We had a minor hold up in the middle of the day when the Peoria Fire Department and the Ranger helicopter had to use our landing pad for a real near drowning emergency. Although classes kind of drew to a halt during that non-planned event, it really showed the need for safety!
Morning TV Show Interviews
Kids put their talents to work for the Youth Poster ContestWe kicked it all off with a Friday morning advertisement on Phoenix Channel 10 news show from 6-9. Several volunteers were on hand bright and early (6am) for assisting with that too. Thanks to all for that also. Channel 10 Weatherman Cory McCloskey did a wonderful job of promoting the event. Saturday the Peoria Times and The Sun City newspaper out doing articles for their respective papers.
